Gimi Access is the only company in South Africa, specializing in the application of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs) in internal as well as external environments. We are currently a one of a kind company that gets involved in projects, that deal predominantly with making the built environment more accessible for people with special needs.

Gimi Access has been working closely with the South African National Council for the Blind (SANCB), Institute for the Blind (lFB), now Kaleidoscope in Worcester, the Guide Dog Association, National Department of Transport (NDoT), the South African Bureau of Standards’ (SABS) TGSI Working Group and   Universal Access Consultants, to share invaluable  knowledge and expertise gained from implementing over 20 tactile related projects, ranging from Bus Rapid Transit to rural Non-Motorised Transport projects throughout South Africa. This includes the construction of over 2000 tactile pedestrian ramps.

Gimi Access gets involved in projects from the design through to product manufacture, supply and physical installation. We also provide training to contractors, engineers, architects and municipal officials on the current national requirements with regards to tactile application in South Africa. Gimi Access has a proven track record with a good understanding of Universal Design standards, including road infrastructure and public transport.
